June Housing Stats – Using The Market in Your Real Estate Marketing

Real Estate Agents across the country are seeing some interesting trends in their local housing markets.  Generally, we have seen increase in demand and prices, but decreasing inventory.  As noted by NAR and Chief Economist, Lawrence Yun – this is really the bigger story – and a lot of agents have felt one squeeze (a slumping, then recovering economy) lead to another squeeze (low available inventory).

What we see whenever there is news about the economy and trends, is that this gives you more opportunities for marketing.  We have spoken before about the necessity of keeping leads, clients (past and present) and general sphere of influence up to speed on market happenings.  This is one of THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAYS OF MARKETING to whomever is currently in your pool of “listeners” (See our blog post about the value of listeners).

We have heard from many of our clients recently about the amount of business that comes from their use of their local or national real estate market statistics.  Because, contrary to our mis-guided beliefs – many consumers still do not really know what is happening in the market.  And in their eyes, one of your primary roles is to help educate them of what is happening, so they can feel secure in going into a transaction.

This can be especially effective for potential sellers in this market.  Just think, a post about what the market has been doing, strategies they can use to get what they want/need to out of their home, while making sure they maximize potential and move the property quickly – then showing them what historical numbers in their zip codes and surrounding looks like…
