InsideRE Privacy Notice for California Residents

This Privacy Notice for California Residents (the “Privacy Notice”) supplements the information contained in the Inside Real Estate (“IRE”) privacy policy found at https://insiderealestate.com/privacy-policy/ and applies solely to all website visitors, users of IRE’s services, and others who reside in the State of California (“consumers” or “you”).
We adopt this notice to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”) and any terms defined in the CCPA have the same meaning when used in this Privacy Notice. This notice applies only to personal information we collect as a business. It does not apply to personal information we process on behalf of our clients as a service provider.
Collection of Personal Information
Under the CCPA, personal information means information that identifies, relates to, describes, references, is reasonably capable of being associated with, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer, household, or device. It does not include publicly available information from government records or deidentified or aggregated information.
Within the last twelve months we have collected and disclosed the following categories of personal information: (a) identifiers; (b) personal information categories listed in the California Customer Records statute; (c) commercial information, such as records of services obtained or considered; (d) internet or other electronic network activity; (e) audio or visual information, such as call recordings; (f) professional or employment-related information, such as job title and company affiliation; (g) inferences drawn from other personal information; and (h) sensitive personal information, namely log-in credentials for the IRE platform. We may also collect and disclose these categories of personal information going forward.
Sources of Personal Information
We collect personal information from the following categories of sources: (a) directly from you, such as when you register to use our services; (b) indirectly from you, such as when you interact with our websites; (c) others at your company; (d) data analytics providers; (e) service providers; (f) commercial data providers; (g) third-party advertising companies; and (h) affiliates not under the IRE brand.
Collection, Use, and Disclosure of Personal Information
We collect, use, or disclose personal information for reasons described in our privacy policies, which correspond to one or more of the following purposes:
- To fulfill or meet the reason you provided the information. For example, if you share your name and contact information to obtain a product or service, we will use that information to help provide the product or service.
- To provide support, personalize and develop our websites, products and services.
- To create maintain, customize and secure your account with us.
- To process your requests, purchases, transactions and payments and prevent transactional fraud.
- To provide you with support and to respond to inquiries, including to investigate and address your concerns and to monitor and improve our responses.
- To personalize your website experience and to deliver offerings relevant to your interests, including targeted offers and ads through our website and third-party sites.
- For testing, research, analysis and product development, including to develop and improve our websites, products and services.
- To respond to law enforcement requests and as required by applicable law, court order, or governmental regulations.
- As described to you when collecting your personal information.
- For other business purposes described in the CCPA.
Disclosing Personal Information
We may disclose each category of personal information we collect to the following categories of third parties for our business purposes: (a) service providers; (b) affiliates not under the IRE brand; (c) government entities if requested or required; and (d) other third parties if required by law.
While we do not sell personal information for money, we “share” identifiers and internet or electronic network activity information with third-party digital advertising companies for cross-context behavioral advertising purposes. We do not knowingly share personal information about minors.
We may also disclose information that has been deidentified or aggregated without limitation. We maintain and use deidentified information only in deidentified form. We do not attempt to reidentify such information except as needed to determine that the information is appropriately deidentified.
Your Rights
The CCPA provides consumers who are California residents with specific rights regarding their personal information. If you are a California resident, you may exercise the following rights related to personal information we collect, subject to certain exceptions and limitations.
Access to Information Rights
You have the right to request access to the specific pieces of personal information we collected about you and certain information about our collection and use of your personal information, including: (a) the categories of personal information we collect, use, share, and disclose about you; (b) the categories of sources of the personal information we collected about you; (c) our business or commercial purpose for collecting, sharing, or disclosing your personal information; (d) the categories of third parties with whom we share or disclose your personal information; (e) the categories of personal information that we have disclosed or have shared for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Deletion Request Rights
You have the right to request that we delete personal information that we collected from you.
Correction Request Rights
You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
Exercising Access, Deletion, and Correction Rights
To exercise the access, deletion, or correction rights described above, please submit a consumer request to us by either calling us at 800-656-1646 or submitting a request through our webform here.
You may designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf. We will require the agent to submit a proof of authorization with the request.
In some cases, we may need to request additional information from you or your agent to verify your identity or understand the scope of your request. We will only use any personal information provided in a request to verify your identity or the agent’s authority to make the request. Making a verifiable request does not require you to create an account with us. We cannot respond to your request if we cannot verify your identity or the agent’s authority to make the request.
Opt-Out Rights
You have the right to opt out of our sharing of personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
You can opt out of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising by visiting our websites with the Global Privacy Control (“GPC”) enabled. The GPC is a third-party tool, and you can activate the GPC by implementing a browser or extension that offers this tool. More information and instructions on implementing this tool are available here. Our websites have implemented mechanisms to respond to GPC signals we receive, where required, and we treat these signals as requests to opt out of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising.
While the CCPA provides an opt-out opportunity for certain uses or disclosures of “sensitive personal information”, IRE uses and discloses such information only in ways that do not require an opt-out opportunity.
Non-Retaliation
We will not retaliate against you for exercising any of your rights under the CCPA.
Information Retention
We process and store personal information as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which the personal information we collected or to comply with legal obligations. Once we no longer need to retain the personal information, we delete or deidentify the information as required by law. To determine the appropriate retention period for personal information, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the information; the potential risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure of personal information; the purposes for which we process personal information and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means; and applicable legal requirements.
